The RT4 is a solid performer. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because the screen is challenging to use.
Icons and keyboard “keys” are so small that tapping them with normal to pudgy fingers yields unexpected results and a bit of frustration. Many have commented on this aspect of RT4 operation. Bluetooth keyboards will work and perhaps bluetooth mice might but when one is in the field, such accessories are difficult and clumsy to use.
Battery life is excellent. The 4200 maH battery lasts 2 full days easily even with lots of transmitting. Many have praised the battery life for good reason. Since I don’t use the cellular features of the device at all, that likely contributes to the very long battery life. The RT4 provides plenty of receive audio volume using the built-in speaker or the speaker mic. In a quiet car it’s easy to listen to any conversation. In my noisier work van, I can still hear most transmissions without having to hold the speaker to my ear. Transmit audio is clean and loud.
I’ve not used the RT4 as a cell phone so I can’t comment on that side of the unit’s performance. Wifi performance is excellent even on the fringes of a wifi access point. I’ve been fully satisfied with the performance of the RT4. I have used the RT4 seated comfortably at my home or shop as well as mobile. In each setting, using Zello mostly, the RT4 has performed reliably and solidly. I do setup and settings adjustments when I’m seated and can precisely press relevant points on the screen. Mobile operations require care and a bit of precision when channel changes are needed or other adjustments.
The package or bundle offered by Network Radios gives the user everything needed to use the RT4 in every setting. The bundled additional battery, speaker/mic, charger and windshield mount allow the user to go mobile or stationary as needed, when needed. I recommend the RT4. Frank Haas KB4T, Florida USA
